A watchlist for the long weekend

Hindi moviegoers can pick between the Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer (in Tamil but also dubbed into Hindi), Gadar 2 and OMG 2. This is also the perfect time to catch up with long-running releases. For everybody who is planning to have a tummy ache or a flu on Monday, August 14, Barbie and Oppenheimer are still available in cinemas.

Made in Heaven has dropped a new season, which is as good as the first, reviewer Udita Jhunjhunwala says.

Assuming that August 14 is a de facto holiday, and since August 16 is Parsi New Year (a bank holiday in Maharashtra at least), this is ICYMI time. Here is a never-before opportunity to watch any of these shows.

The South Korean show Kingdom is a riveting mix of several genres. The two-season series is available on Netflix, as is also a spin-off, Ashin of the North. The plot revolves around a palace coup to oust the rightful heir. Zombies abound, some of them the creation of the plotters and the others the result of hunger. Nail-biting spectacle, movie-level action, compelling performances, eye-watering costumes and hordes of the undead plus a sharp political subtext – it’s all happening over 12 nail-biting episodes.
